Revis has a contract. I think we should take care of Mangold and let Revis play on his current contract.

Reality is Revis is one player and over paying him grossly will not get this team a SB. Getting as much talent and depth together right now is the key. The team is going to blow apart over money soon enough. Let Revis twist in the wind, win now and than unload him or over pay him. Don't over pay while trying to win a SB.

Curtis Martin and Pennington anyone. Bad deals to players kill teams in a salary cap environment. You can't pay one or two players all the money.

Washington hasn't won a SB by overpaying Hanesworth we aren't going to win a SB by over paying Revis. Great player but this is a Union league and if you want to build a great car you can't pay the guy who tunes the engine a 100 times more than the guy who does welding.

The draft, the future of 95% of the players and ultimately the league is screwed if a CB is going to get paid QB money.

I'm all for getting rid of the Union, the draft and half the small market teams for an elite level league with 8 or 9 teams that resemble the Yankees. Until we get there I don't think the Socialistic nature that the NFL and Players Union are operating from allows us to pay Revis as if the NFL was a free market none Union entity.

The NFL needs the Union for anti trust reasons. A Union needs some fairness in salaries or they are simply jerking off their members.

I know Im going to get hate for this, but Id wait and see before making the leap that he is the most important guy to the defense being the reason to give him the huge deal. He was in 2009. He may or may not be in 2010. If the Jets stumble into a legit pass rusher that guy is probably going to mean as much as Revis. Back in 2008, when the team could not rush the QB at all and then Jenkins became ineffective, Revis was still great, but was nowhere near as significant because teams ripped the defense apart elsewhere. Going into 2009 almost every fan said "Kris Jenkins is the most important part of this defense". Nobody is saying that in 2010. Maybe nobody will say it about Revis in 2011. We don't know until we see the product on the field.

Well said.

I also think that the Raiders might try to get out of the Aso contract before its finished. Even if they don't that contract only has 2 more years on it. Let that contract expire and then the comparisons to an insane contract are gone.

The last 2 years are for 16.5 and 17 so if Revis wants to be the highest paid CB you don't have to be a math genius to figure out what he wants..
