As instrumental as the King has been to the Ranger's rise to the top, Malkin should probably be handed the MVP trophy at the end of the season and be done with it.There's no need for a vote nor a ceremony. He has been tremendous. There wouldn't be a peep from anyone. I want to see the Rangers hoist the Cup in June. But to do so they at some point are going to have to face the Pens with Gino and a healthy Cindy somewhere in the playoffs. That will be a really hard series for the Rangers without a significantly better offense and power play.It's been better with Zucarello but we will see. The Rangers right now need to get healthy and somehow get Dubinsky cranked up if they are going to make a big time run. Tough loss last night. You mean like on February 21st when all of those players for the Rangers played and the Pens were without Crosby and Orpik and still beat the Rangers 2-0? Talking about injuries is laughable. Over the past 2 season the Pens have played 11 games where Malkin, Crosby and Staal were all healthy and playing. Yet they continue to win. It's obvious at full roster strength who the best team in the East is. Would be a helluva series though. Problem remains even healthy and with Lundqvist the Rangers do not score enough. May be Kreider helps. May be Zucarello helps the power play. It's all fine and good to be devoted to defense but as we've seen the last few weeks games agaisnt better opponents require getting a tying or go ahead or insurance goal late in the game.And too often the Rangers fall back and play defense instead of attacking,. Tortarella has done a great job, but the offense simply may ne be there. In fairness though the price for Nash was insane. At a loss why they didn't get a stopgap rental forward.
