Scott Dierking
Speaking after Wednesday's practice, Jets coach Rex Ryan hinted Geno Smith (ankle) could miss Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars. Source: New York Daily News "Well, I guess, we’ll see how it goes," Ryan said. "He’s been out their practicing, working through things ... but that could be a possibility." Smith has been struggling through practice since rolling his ankle in last week's opener, but has yet to miss a rep. It now sounds like the Jets should have let him rest. Of course, that would require Gang Green having a clue about handling quarterbacks. EDIT-I do like the snarky little blurb by rotoworld.

JiFtheOracle
Where does this indicate he's sitting out Saturday??? And, how did they mishandle this?
Scott Dierking
Where does this indicate he's sitting out Saturday??? And, how did they mishandle this? Ryan said it was a "possibility" when asked if Geno may sit on Saturday. Rotoworld is speaking to the general bungling of the Jet qb position -Brininging in Tebow -Extending Sanchez -Sticking with Sanchez so long -Not having an adequate back-up. You know, bungling. dbatesman
/amateur psychoanalyst hat on Idzik wants Rex to be a bit more coy with the media, and this is the result. Saying "come on guys, he's been out there all week" a minute later is him bristling at it and giving us a moment of honesty. Legit possibility, or me trying to make myself feel better? Or...he wanted to burn a draft pick on Geno about as much as he wanted to burn a draft pick on Stephen Hill.

Could be, especially given the way things have been handled thus far. If so, this will be a hilariously awkward season.
