Powerful words today from Jets CEO Christopher Johnson on the drafting of QB Sam Darnold. Speaking at a charity event in New York, Johnson told reporters: "I honestly think (people) are going to look back 20 years from now and say this is the moment the Jets shifted into a new gear, that they became a great team." Wow.

Jets WR Quincy Enunwa, who missed last season due to a neck injury, told reporters last night at a charity event that he's "probably ahead of schedule." Enunwa said he's running routes and catching the ball. He hinted that he could be limited when OTA practices begin on May 22, but he expects to be a full go for training camp.

Free agent OT Byron Bell is working out for the Jets on Monday.

Bell has started 74 games in the NFL including two at left tackle for the Cowboys last season, but he has never been an above-average option. The Jets could use some help at right tackle, but Bell is better suited as a backup.

The Jets are working out free-agent G/T Byron Bell, a source confirmed. (First reported by the NFL Network.) Bell, 29, has compiled 74 starts with the Panthers, Titans and Cowboys. He can play both tackle spots and left guard. This would be a depth signing as C/G Spencer Long continues his recovery from quadriceps surgery last season with the Redskins. Long probably will be limited when OTAs start on May 22.

Another year of total neglect of the OL? How anyone could possibly think Mac is anything other than irresponsible would be drinking the Kool-Aid. At this point, this is a fireable offense. Unfortunately, the only thing that's going to get Jets fans clamoring for Mac's ouster, is if Sam Darnold gets taken away on a stretcher because Mac neglected the OL yet again.

The Jets have claimed former Patriots LT Antonio Garcia on waivers, ESPN's Field Yates reported. Garcia, a third-round pick in 2017, was waived with the non-football injury designation. He didn't play last season because he was on the NFI list. Garcia (6-foot-7, 302) had blood clots in his lung, the Boston Herald reported. He participated in the first four weeks of the Patriots' off-season program.
