Here are two that you will all hate - although I confess to having loved REO Speedwagon along with all the other arena rock, power ballad bands. Journey, Styx.....good GOD!!!

Time For Me to Fly - REO Speedwagon

I've been around for you

I've been up and down for you

But I just can't get any relief

I've swallowed my pride for you

I've lived and I've lied for you

But you still make me feel like a thief

Take It On the Run - REO Speedwagon

Heard it from a friend who

Heard it from a friend who

Heard it from another you've been messin' around

btw, fear not. This is my one and only Greengal impersonation.

My first(s) LPs were

KISS with "Killers" and Scorpions with "Blackout"

Hi, my first posts in this thread were bashing the '80s, but you helped me rembember 2 albums I still have in the basement:

Michael Shenker Group (Rudy's brother)- Assault attack (a little formulaic, but good)

Trio - And Error (ich lieb dich nicht du liebst mich nicht -uh huh)

Am I losing my mind, wasn't it the McCauley-Schenker Group?

Germanjet - I was in Zell am See, Austria skiing when Falco died. You would have thought their president had died.

I would have voted for him... ;)

btw

It was Michael (Schenker Group), the brother of Rudolf Schenker from the Scorpions.

Maybe the very best guitar player of the word :-)

How can you forget Pretty In Pink????

Damn! I just thought of movies of the top of my head. How the hell did I miss that one?

Name your favourite song from his movies. There are a lot to choose from.

Mine is "If You Leave" by OMD. That is one of my favourite songs ever.

Wow, Gainzo.. There are too many to think off the cuff..

But my favorite from P.I.P. is "Left Of Center" from Suzanne Vega

If you want me

You can find me

Left of center

Off of the strip

In the outskirts

In the fringes

In the corner

Out of the grip

When they ask me

What are you looking at?

I always answer

Nothing much (not much)

I think they know that

I

Valley Girl had some great songs in it as well.

The Plimsouls- A Million Miles Away

Josie Cotton- Johnny Are You Queer? (There's a Smizzy joke in there, somewhere)

Psychedelic Furs- Love My Way

By the way, Richard Butler's band after the Furs, Love Spit Love, is awesome.

I'll second that. The furs were awesome back in the day.

I think Thor and I should put together one of those "Time-Life" type CD collections that is all about '80's pop/alternative music. With Verde and greengal as major contributors it would be a hit.

how about... please please please let me get what i want - the smiths

Good times for a change

See, the luck I've had

Can make a good man

Turn bad

So please please please

Let me, let me, let me

Let me get what I want

This time

Haven't had a dream in a long time

See, the life I've had

Can make a good man bad

So for once in my life

Let me get what I want

Lord knows, it would be the first time

Lord knows, it would be the first time

Don't even get me started on The Smiths and Morrissey.

I was a Morrissey fanatic in the late '80's early '90's. Piccadilly Palare, Suedehead and the classic, Every Day is like Sunday.

It would be at least a 5 CD collection. I forgot all about the Cars. They had great songs in the '80's. You Might Think & Drive come to mind.

How about adding a little Mental as Anything? They had one song that made it to the States (courtesy of Crocodile Dundee 2) that was called Live it Up..

How can you see looking through those tears

Don't you know you're worth your weight in gold

I can't believe you're alone in here

Let me warm your hands against the cold

A close encounter with a hardhearted man

Who never gave half of what he got

Has made you wish you'd never been born

That's a shame cause you got the lot

Hey there you with a sad face

Come up to my place and live it up

You beside the dance floor

What do you cry for let's live it up

If you smiled the walls would fall down

On all the people in this pickup joint

But if you laughed you'd level this town

Hey lonely girl that's just the point

Hey there you with a sad face

Come up to my place and live it up

You beside the dance floor

What do you cry for let's live it up

Just answer me the question why

You stand alone by the phone in the corner and cry (hey baby)

How can you see looking through those tears

Don't you know you're worth your weight in gold

I can't believe you're alone in here

Let me warm your hands against the cold

If you smiled the walls would fall down

On all the people in this pickup joint

But if you laughed you'd level this town

Hey lonely girl that's just the point

Hey there you with a sad face

Come up to my place and live it up

You beside the dance floor

What do you cry for let's live it up

Let's live it up,

Live it up

Live it up

Hey yeah you

With a sad face

Come up to my place

Come up to my place baby

Hey there you with a sad face

Come up to my place and live it up

You beside the dance floor

What do you cry for let's live it up
