that would eliminate all posters from Massachusetts

that diet of six packs and boiled potatos will make you do some wierd things

Yes, we Massh*les have a real reputation for inbreeding....don't let the fact that no one here is called Bill Bob, Mary Sue or Bo fool yah....

BTW - and this is sort of sad, there is a gossip column in the Boston Herald called the Inside Track. One of the Inside Tracks sections lists who has been seen about town and what they were doing. Ted Kennedy was spotted at a trendy downtown Steak joint downing MANY scotches. Now, it's common knowledge that this man is not only a scumbag, but a drunk. So, why does his ex-wife get sent to a looney bin for doing exactly what he does? Why does his son go into rehab and into public apology mode for the very same thing his dad does?

Kenndy's blow.

Because those old Irish ladies that live in Boston, the South Shore and the Western Suburbs, who go to church every day - will not die, that is why.

Hey, but Leon died.

If he was so concerned about that cool mil, it should have been in his will.;)

TX-The contract was with the NYJ to be HC. The Million was BB's guarantee (his word) that he would not pursue other offers-it was primarily the year before).

It is not the mill that is really the hold-up-That is the man's word, and that is on him. Not enforceable.

He had a CONTRACT. that is what BB skipped on and dallied with Kraft with.

Same goes with Parcells and Herm

Yea Dierk, but when Parcells decided to still hang around, didn't that make the contract null and void?

Can you really blame BB?

The contract clearly stipulated that upon Parcells leaving the post, the job would be bequeathed to BB.

Parcells stepped aside (granted he did it quickly to snare BB, but he stepped aside), so there was no abilty to make the contract null and void.

The Jets did nothing that enabled BB to get out of his contract.

Let's not re-hash this

He asked for permission to tamper? Where do you have that info?

What the Jets did with parcells was wrong also.

Scott - Kraft asked for permission to talk to Belichick about the vacant Patriots position. He was denied and the impromptu Par$ells resignation was put in motion.

He did have a contract, but as you said it was to not pursue offers the season before. If that contract was still binding, Par$ells would not have to retire. The Patriots requested permission and were denied. Case closed. Par$ells knew the only way to keep him was to retire and enact the other clause by whereto Belichick becomes "HC of the NYJ."

The bottomline is both teams got caught with their hands in the cookie jars. Both coaches knew what was available in their respective greener pastures through "intermediaries."

PFSIKH, PFSIKH, PFSIKH-Ye of the naive. Yes the Pats were denied permission. AFTER they had already TAMPERED with Bellichick before the end of the season. They had phone records proving it.

He also had 3 or 4 years remaing on his contract, PERIOD. The bonus 1 mill was to keep BB from pursuing other jobs the year before. BB could have left , yes, if Parcells had not "retired". But, Parcells did retire, triggering BB to HC under the existing contract.

The Pats had ZERO right to talk to BB and offer him more money without talking to the Jets first. And, when BB became HC, de facto through the Parcells retiring, there was no position to talk about.

Scott you are the naive one.

First, let's get over who talked to who. I am sure we can agree when it comes to players, GMs and coaches, that a 'wanting' team can express their desire for that individual. Tampering happens. There is no ifs ands or buts about it. No team wants to get embarrassed with such a public failure.

Second, there was only one way to keep BB, that was for BP to retire. If his contract was so ironclad, do you think BP would have retired? No. There would be no reason for him to retire. He could still be King and BB would be his pawn. BP became aware of BB's intentions and retired. No one, even BB the heir to the throne, knew BP was retiring. When BB resigned anyways, I am sure Tags knew (from Kraft?) that the Jets had definetly tampered and he just got sick of all the BS and had the terms of the buyout worked out.

Last, it is disengenuious to say that Jets' fans wanted BB. Crap, I called him Belichoke for the first year plus he was there. Only Kraft and Par$ells even had an inkling of what his potential was.

Looks like you forgot your original point PFSIKH.

Nice try.
