SANTA CLARA, California (Ticker) -- Four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Bryant Young, the last remaining member of the San Francisco 49ers' last Super Bowl team, re-signed with the team on Thursday.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Last season, Young started all 16 games and recorded 60 tackles and 5 1/2 sacks.

"We are excited about retaining Bryant as a member of the 49ers team," coach Mike Nolan said. "We were diligent in our efforts to retain Bryant as a member of the San Francisco 49ers and we are pleased we were able to reach an agreement that reflects his value to the team while addressing future needs of the club. He is the definition of a leader and helps show the young players what it is supposed to look like."

Young, 35, has spent his entire 13-year career with the Niners and ranks third in franchise history with 83 sacks.

The 49ers on Thursday also released wide receiver Antonio Bryant, who lasted just one season with the club.

Signed last March as a free agent, Bryant had 40 receptions for 733 yards and three touchdowns in 2006.

"After an evaluation period we determined that Antonio was not the best fit for the 49ers," Nolan said.
