faba
Giants acquire RHP Hawkins from Cubs for Williams, Aardsma May 28, 2005 SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) - Tyler Walker has effectively replaced injured closer Armando Benitez. But that didn't stop Brian Sabean from seeking more help for the bullpen. The San Francisco Giants acquired reliever LaTroy Hawkins from the Chicago Cubs for righthanders Jerome Williams and David Aardsma on Saturday. "LaTroy's acquisition certainly strengthens and deepens our bullpen, which obviously needs bolstering," said Sabean, the Giants' general manager. The Cubs made the move after learning that starter Mark Prior will be sidelined at least six weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his pitching elbow. With Prior and fellow starter Kerry Wood on the disabled list, the Cubs may be looking for Williams to move into the rotation.
Barton
Jerome Williams? He's a very good prospect if I remember correctly, he was 1 of the top pitching prospects just 1 year agp Gotta like that trade if you're a cubbies fan.
The Troll
Good riddance. Don't really care who we got, as long as it means no more LaTroy Hawkins. The Cubs would be above .500 this year if it wasn't for him.
