Draft Pick Numbers

Fashanu rocking Mangold's #74 - also Olu's college number. Interesting that the Jets haven't semi-retired that number, like they did with #24 (even before Revis went into the HOF), #80 (Chrebet) and #90 (Byrd).

Key in #33 - he could become the best Safety to wear that number in Jets' history, or at least the most likeable.

The Jets hoping for lightning to strike twice by giving Garrett's former #17 to Corley, and letting Fashanu stay with Mangold's #74.  Probably not so much by giving #33 to Key.

I love Mangold, but if the Jets never retired Mawae’s #68, I don’t see why they would retire Mangold’s number.

And as much as I love Chrebet, I still don’t understand why the #80 has been dormant ever since. Chrebet was the classic underdog story and fan favorite, but I wouldn’t really classify him as a guy who should have his number retired.

Eric Smith may have something to say about that.

Eric smith gave up so many big plays in pass coverage.. After mark sanchez, he’s up there why those 2 great teams couldn’t get to the Super Bowl.
