Meanwhile, Kendall revealed Sunday that he got several cortisone injections during the 2004 season so that he could play despite a broken toe. He said in June that he had taken three injections so that he could play through a back injury against Carolina in 2005. He indicated that he likely wouldn't do something like that again to play through a serious injury.

Pete -- I tip my cap to you. Wow. What you do in order to make millions of dollars is truly amazing. A broken toe? That is brave. You ran the risk of spraining the toe next to it. Could you imagine having to walk around for weeks with a broken toe and a sprained toe? You would have needed a motor scooter to survive.

Three injections to help with a cranky back? That pretty much defines courage to me. I played in a baseball league a few years ago. The pitcher on our team was in his late 30's. He would get an injection each week just to pitch the following week. His arm was completely useless on Monday after pitching Sunday.

But Pete -- this doesn't compare to what you do. Because we were just playing a game for fun. You were being brave for money. I salute you for that. I had a really bad sore throat last week. I went into the office. My coworkers were all high-fiving me and saying that I was the man. We got our monthly #s in one time because I didn't miss any time. A sick day was in order but I played with the pain. This is nothing in comparison to what you have done, I realize this now.

I really thank you for being fearless.

Pete, seriously man whoever is doing your P.R. these days needs to go. I think the entire premise of your beef has some merit. But how you have gone about handling it has been terrible. Just terrible. You need to get advice from somebody else. The current plan of attack is not working.

Your response was very funny. I could not stop laughing. I have got to agree with you!

This is a great write-up by JP

As I wrote the other day...

Although I think we can agree that both sides are being petty at this point, it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to sympathize with Pete Kendall. This guy is a mid-30's, mediocre but declining guard who has never been a pro-bowler. I cannot sympathize with someone who gets paid 1.7 MILLION dollars to play a GAME, and then has the gall to bitch and moan for more. Especially considering this guy's "caliber" as a player, and the makeup of this franchise's fanbase. You'll be hard pressed to find a lot of Jets fans who sympathize with him. Even 4H and guys who think like him---yes, we can agree that maybe the FO could have handled this better; but i doubt 4H sympathizes with Kendall. Thinks the FO is acting a tad douchebaggish? Perhaps. Sympathize with Kendall? No way.

You're being paid 1.7 million to play a god damn game. Lord knows how many years of my life I will have to work extremely hard to tally that figure. Play the game.

i agree. he probably deserves another million but after the sh*tshow his people have him starring in i say bench him out of spite. no trade, no raise, no play. bye bye!

That's the thing I know he is frustrated. He can make the case that he deserves more money. If he played the court of public opinion the right way, we would be defending him. But he has lost touch with what will get him sympathy.

I really think someone is giving him bad advice. Denny Green cut him and he got a raise out of it. Mangini is refusing to blink.

This was written after the Cardinals waived Kendall:

Kendall's departure comes a month after some players complained to the National Football League Players Association about the intensity of off-season practices. The NFL penalized the Cardinals by making them forfeit the last week of their off-season conditioning program.

It's unknown if Kendall, one of the more vocal Cardinals, was among those players. Green denied that was the motive for cutting Kendall, 31, who is entering his ninth season.

In your case you will be handed millions eventually. But yes I agree most of us will have to work a long time to make over 2 million. What's the point? We aren't going to feel sorry for him.
