Omar the Tentmaker and his questionable moves

Lindstrom and Henry Owens went for Jason Vargas and Adam Bostick. At the time Vargas seemed likely to have a shot at being #4 starter at some point. We got killed to date in that one as Lindstrom was more than serviceable out of the pen and Owens in limited action also pitched very well for the Marlins.

Heath Bell was traded for Ben Johson(OF) who sucks while Bell went on to become nasty with the Padres.

Our pen was a strength heading into these trades thus the deals. Unfortunately Omar missed on both. Bannister for Burgos I liked at the time but Burgos needs to harness his huge potential. Bannister meanwhile had a excellent season.

A 2008 pen of Lindstrom, Bell, Owens,Duaner Sanchez, and Wagner would have been nice.

Heilman(if given the chance) and Bannister would have filled out the starting staff nicely.

Hindsight.....but yeah we got murdered.

We also lost Royce Ring in those deals and he has been good in limited time.....now a Brave.

Duaner Sanchez's shoulder is recovering and he's throwing again. He'd give the bullpen a huge boost if he returns to form.
