Mets back in Santana race.....

NIGHT STALKER

MLBTradeRumors.com, citing a trusted New York sportswriter, says the Twins have attempted to initiate talks on a three-year deal that would net them Dan Haren, send Johan Santana to the Mets and Jose Reyes to the A's.

It's a huge long shot, but it is the kind of deal the Twins should have been aiming for in the first place if they wanted to stay in contention. This rumor has the A's also sending Bobby Crosby and Dan Johnson to the Mets, while getting Kevin Mulvey back. Hector Pellot would go to the Twins.

If Crosby's medical reports check out I say you have to make this deal.

Omar should also try and get Barton instead of Johnson.

It's kinda comical to hear Yankee fans stating that the Mets should trade Wright/Reyes ( 2 proven all stars) with reasonable long term contracts for Santana, when they're reluctant to trade a kid pitcher who's only pitched a handful of innings in the bigs.

1-Reyes has peaked

2-Wright's production can be matched

Pitching > hitting

Comical? Why is that? I would say the Mets are hurting a lot worse than the Yanks when it comes to pitching...perhaps if the Mets had a competitive staff, they may not have had a melt down.
