afosomf
....true....but it was the defense that won those SB's. Funny how the team is now referred to as offense first....a complete 180 of the true BB philosophy. Will be interesting to see if the old addage holds true. Defense wins championships. also ya think those teams cared about personal records!!!!!! We shall see if it catches up to them.
RayLewis
Jacksonville has one hell of a defence too. They would be a very tough team for anyone to face. The Patriots defense has given up less points, allowed less yardage passing and rushing and have a better third-down defense, FYI. New England's D also has 10 more sacks. The only important defensive category that Jacksonville tops New England in is yards per rush average.
PFSIKH
also ya think those teams cared about personal records!!!!!! We shall see if it catches up to them. Yes. Why else would you have VT throwing a TD in the last few minutes of a game they were up by 10 points already? For some obscure NFL record. Why have Doug Flutie do a drop kick? For another obscure thing. For all the claims of arrogance that is thrown upon them, it would seem disengious to say they are arrogant but do not care about records. Their credibility has been put into question. They have a huge bullseye on them and they still set those records. It is not so much that they wanted the records, but another way to show the NFL a big middle finger and FU.

It is all about playing the game as the rules are today. Back when the rules favored the defense, good defenses won games. Now with the current holding, PI, and roughing the passer rules, good offenses win. I think BB did a better job at anticipating how the new rules (which he opposed) would change the game, and changed his offense to fit within the new game. I didn't say it was better than the Pats D, I said it was pretty good. Which it is.

Although it doesn't hurt to have a stud d-line.

Garb
umm if he did a better job, he could have won it last year!!! His arrogance got the best of him - and he completely miscalculated the Branch situation. Their won-loss record, a direct result of a less than stellar offense, had them playing a playoff game in San Diego - then Indy. Put it this way, Tom Brady was throwing to a box of rocks last year....and still got them within moments of the SB. Yes, I know they choked away a good lead in the Indy Champ game. Still makes me sick.
DaBrick Wall
If I were a Pats fan, I would have trouble trusting a defense that was torched in the second half by the likes of Kyle Boller, AJ Feeley, and Eli Manning. I guess we'll see if the old adage holds true this year.
GodWearsAGrayHoodie
umm if he did a better job, he could have won it last year!!! he came pretty close, if the Pats had held onto their 18 point lead in the AFCCG they would have likely won the SB. But after giving up that lead, BB didn't go out and make major improvements to the defense that couldn't stop the Colts in the second half, we went out and got Moss, Welker and Stalworth. Time will tell if the maximum dies this year. Although some would say it died last year. The Colts are an offense team the bears a defense team. But the game evolves, teams that evolve with it win. Teams that don't have fan bases like the Steelers who constantly whine that real football was what was played in the 1970s.

I would say anticipating was wrong word to use..the rules were already set in motion and all he could give cindy was Bug eyes, Troy and Gaffney. I would say arrogance is better word

You signed Adalius Thomas, Franchised Asante and also used your 1st round pick on Merriweather. You obviously set out to improve both units.
