JonEJet
Per Gammons... The Cubs-Padres deal for Peavy has broken down, and the Yankees have tried to get back involved, but Peavy has re-iterated that he doesn't want to be a Yankee. The Yankees are targeting Sheets, Burnett, AND Lowe, which means that they don't think they'll be able to sign Sabathia because he doesn't want to be a Yankee. Sheets has not received any other offers besides the one from the Yankees, and there's only one other team even remotely interested in him and that team is only willing to offer 1 year, $7 million, but Sheets won't sign because he doesn't want to be a Yankee. Burnett has shown a strong interest in the Yankees because he's trying to get a few more dollars out of them that he can take back to be matched by the Braves, where he will sign no matter what because he doesn't want to be a Yankee. Derek Lowe called the Yankees and told them that he really wants to pitch for them this season, but then he yelled "Pscyh!" and hung up the phone because he doesn't want to be a Yankee. Goose Gossage has refused to wear a Yankee hat into the Hall of Fame because he doesn't want to be a Yankee. The reason George Steinbrenner turned the Yankees over to Hal this offseason is because he doesn't want to be a Yankee. Jeter has stated that he won't ever sign a contract extension with the Yankees because he doesn't want to be a Yankee. The families of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Joe DiMaggio have come forward asking MLB to officially remove all records linking those players to the Yankees because they all said before they died that they didn't want to be Yankees. The Yankees will feature new uniforms this season -- all white -- because the Pinstripes and interlocking-NY have refused to be stitched onto the uniforms because they don't want to be Yankees

He had said on the Larry King show some years back he'll always be a Yankee. Love the Mick.

anskyruben
You guys act like there are no Yankees homers in popular media. ESPN is the biggest source of sports news for people. There is not ONE Yankee homer on that station. Prune face Gammons leads the pack of Red Sux homers . His dirt nap couldn't come fast enough. AFJF
As a lifelong Yankee fan I have no problem with Gammons' reporting and I was touched to hear that when he was in the hospital he recieved a necklace with a cross on it as a personal gift from none other than Don Mattingly. Donnie baseball....class all the way.
