JetNation
The New York Yankees are protesting their game against the Boston Red Sox because they say there was no indication of an injury to starter Josh Beckett when he left in the fifth inning. BroadwayJoe12
Probably claim back spasms as it's a recurring injury and something that'll be near impossible to prove. Probably just took him out because he is the suck and didn't want him to hit 4 more people and get beat down.

On a cold, wet night it is probably impossible for him to actually tweak his back.
Guido Monzino
Girardi said he doesn't doubt that he was hurt. The problem is, Farrell motioned to the bullpen (therefore changing pitchers) before he notified the umpire that Beckett was injured. Therefore, Delcarmen should not have had as many pitches as he liked to warm up. Procedural issue only.
BroadwayJoe12
You're right. On a cold, wet night it is probably impossible for him to actually tweak his back. Obviously I was being facetious. I was more alluding to the fact that tito was probably happy to avoid another meltdown from his ace and create even more tension. The conditions were terrible, which let to such a sloppy and poorly played game, I'm sure he was hurt. Like Guido said, just a procedural thing. Otter
Has a protest mattered since the pine tar game? I can't ever remember a baseball protest ever holding up. A few years ago there was one upheld in a NBA, Heat v. Hawks IIRC.
Otter
Guess the Yankees won't win their protest. Beckett just got placed on the DL.

Guido Monzino
Correct ! So much for the protest. Again. Please try to pay attention. That was never the basis for the protest.
