bad luck

Explain to me how we would have been an 8-8 team if the season before we were 10-6?

2005:

1) Chad not taking snaps with a new offensive scheme

2) Ferguson replaced with a 280 lb NT

3) McKenzie replaced with a TE

4) Becht not here to block & no one's catching the ball in his absence anyway.

5)32 yr old CMart after a 400+ touch season

6) schedule is very different:

2004:

1) Win 1: Bengals in Carson Palmer's first career start

2) Win 2: SD Chargers 2 wks removed from considering Rivers or Flutie as their QB & 1 game removed from being the NFL's worst team.

3) Win 3: Miami Dolphins en route to a 4-12 season

4) Win 4: Buffalo Bills, then 0-3

5) Win 5: 49'ers en route to a 2-14 season

6) Win 6: Miami again; see #3

7) Win 7: Browns en route to a 4-12 season

8 ) Win 8: Arizona Cardinals, with Shaun King at QB

9) Win 9: Houston Texans (7-9)

10) Win 10: Seattle (see who they beat to get to 9-7)

That's how we won 10 games. Doesn't look as impressive when it's looked at this way.

SE-You are playing a game where you seem to think coaches can pick which games they want to win. That is a game that has no use.

If winning games was such an easy thing, why don't all teams win them like that?

The criteria used here sometimes, is just unfathomable

Scott he asked for an explanation & I gave a sound one.

I do agree with you, though. We need to find a new GM & let him pick his own HC.

1) They brought in a pretty good backup.

2) They wanted to retain Fergie but they can't pay everyone.

3) Adrian Jones has done okay. Considering the money savings it was good to let Mac go.

4) Becht leaving has hurt more than ANYONE could have imagined. His impact on the running game is missed.

5) Again they brought in a capable backup. Who is now out for the year.

I am a believer that you make your own luck. Luck is probably just a result of good coaching and making key plays in crucial spots in the game. The fact that we are unlucky shows us:

1) That we dont have enought depth on our roster to make up for injuries, which happen to every team in foorball.

2) We dont have a good enough coach to put us in situations to get "lucky".

1) wasn't questioning bringing Fiedler in - my point still stands that Chad was ill-prepared to run this offense even if he was healthy

2) agreed but the point still stands that he is not here & was replaced by a shrimp (for a NT)

3) Jones is not as good as McKenzie

4) I wasn't a fan of Becht, but if you're going with a 285-lb RT you need a big blocking TE

5) It's irrelevant who they brought in; no one gets a carry except Curtis & once in a while Sowell.

I wasn't questioning WHY we did the above anyway. It's enough of a reason that THIS was the situation, as it differed from 2004. THAT is why it was silly to think - with the mentioned schedule differences - we'd improve on last year's record.
