Including his steaming pile of dogcrap week 1, and the SD playoff game where his numbers were actually almost as bad (12/23, 100yds, 1TD, 1INT), here's what his numbers have been:

87/147, 59.2%, 1,089 yards, 7.4 Yards Per Attempt, 10TD/2INT, 99.27 Passer Rating

And that's not against creampuff defenses: Cin, SD, Ind, Balt, Miami, NE

There's real reason for optimism with this kid.

He is starting to make much better decisions and he is checking down like night and day compared to last season. Having Keller is awesome. With this many weapons the Jets have defenses a have to cover Keller with a safety which is a huge mismatch and a great target for Sanchez.

Also, it looks like he's really going through all his reads now. He stays in the pockets and look at all his options. Also, on a couple of plays last night when the Dolphins brought pressure from a corner blitz or something, it looked like he knew the pressure was coming and got rid of the ball in time.

Those numbers are insane when you account for the competition. Add in the fact that the Jets are 5-1 in those games and it's definitely reason for major optimism.

One of his most impressive plays to me was the play when he threw the near pick from his own end zone. He knew he was going to take a shot but he stood in there and planted his feet and threw. Unfortunately the ball sailed on him a little but he OWNED that pocket.
