So, how much cap space does the Vick/Sanchez swap save us?

The die hards of the forum care about vick, the everyday casual fan doesn't care.

not sure.. I got 2 texts from casual fans saying they won't support the Jets anymore.. I think it's the casual fan that is more susceptible to being turned away

Jets have the most cap space in the NFL as of this morning. Jets are also the only team in the NFL to spend less then $106 mil as we are currently at $84 mil. With this much cap space I hope we can land another key player.

Either a CB or DJ would be a good add. I'd prefer the CB, but will take DJ as the fall back plan. If we did sign DJ, we'd probably still have around $15-18 mil in cap space. After signing Draft Picks and having some reserve money for in-season pickup's, we can roll over $10 mil towards next season and the Mo/Snacks extensions.

I don't know but it just 'FEELS" like there is some blockbuster trade on the horizon for the Jets doesn't it? With all of this DeSean Jackson talk and all of this new money floating around and available. I'm not sure who it's going to be but we still need a pass rushing specialist to make up for the dearth of PROVEN talent in the defensive backfield, we still need a number 1 WR to finally push el Busto Stephen Hill off the team. and another CB and maybe a safety. I like the idea of a pass rusher. Was that guy from Minnesota Jared Allen signed by anyone yet?

I doubt you or the Jets would be interested in any CB currently on the market. As for Jackson, adding him would place us just below $23 mil in cap space.

Per Jason, with eight picks our rookie budget is estimated to be $5,281,581 mil if they all happen to make it within the top 51. That budget includes the 18th selection ($1,556,955), 2nd round - 17 selection ($683,156), 3rd round - 5 selection ($591,023) and 3rd round - 16 selection ($569,719).

Jets are likely to get 4 compensatory picks as they lost 4 players who made $3 mil or more along with losing two who were low cost who made under that figure. In the process we sign two low cost which cancels out for the two low cost we lost. Our highest qualifying player is Landry which should result in a 4th rounder. The salary cap for a 2014 draft 4th rounder is $495,146. 5th rounder is $467,825 and 6th rounder is $445,966.

This was of course written before the Bucs cut Revis as we will no longer have that extra 3rd. But it's unlikely for every draft pick to make the top 51 in cap charge. I would guess all players drafted 1-4 will count against the cap.
