Keeping up With Jets Injury Report Proving to be a Challenge

Keeping up with the number of injuries suffered by the Jets this preseason and been an absolute head-spinner.  The wide receiver group has been hit particularly hard, but no group on the roster has been safe but today the Jets had some good news on the injury front, but of course there was some bad as well.

First and foremost, the team’s two projected starting wide receivers appear to be trending in opposite directions.  After saying rookie receiver Denzel Mims had just tweaked his hamstring, it wasn’t until today, practice number fourteen, that Mims took part in some positional drills.  It’s a step in the right direction, but that wasn’t the case for the team’s number one receiver in Breshad Perriman.

Adam Gase on the Perriman injury: “I was way off on that” #Jets

After saying over a week ago that Perriman just had “some swelling” in his knee, he was inactive yet again today as head coach Adam Gase acknowledged the fact that the team was “way off” in their initial assessment.

Slotted number one cornerback Pierre Desire also practiced along with Lawrence Cager who returned from a knee injury he suffered last week.

In other positive news, rookie pass rusher Jabari Zuniga was spotted taking part in practice as tight end Chris Herndon and linebacker Tarell Basham also took part.

Newly on the shelf however were guards Alex Lewis (shoulder) and Cameron Clark (unknown) who joined Marcus Maye, LaMical Perine, Jeff Smith, Vyncint Smith, Connor McDermott, Patrick Onwuasor and wide recevier Braxton Berrios.

I think it is more than Gase. The past couple of years I would bet the Jets are top 5 in most players on IR.

I freely admit I have no idea what it is.

All I know is that literally every season Gase has been an NFL Head Coach, one of the reasons for his lack of success has been his team being rife and riddled with injuries.

I'm not a superstitious man per se (outside the usual ex-baseball player sillyness), but at some point you have to wonder how the odds could badly hit one guy's teams every single year.

maybe but i'd like to see the jets injury report compared to the other teams.  i suspect a lot of these injuries are due to the current virus issues.  the players are on edge and i suspect many are wondering if they should opt out like mosely.
