With starting left tackle George Fant still banged up after leaving yesterday’s loss early, the Jets have added an insurance policy for this Sunday when the Jets travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers.

Veteran tackle Mike Remmers is signing to the #Jets practice squad and will be on their active roster in the next week or so once he's up to speed, per his agent @TesslerSports.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Mike Remmers, most recently of the Kansas City chiefs, is sighing with the Jets.

A veteran of nine NFL seasons, Remmers has appeared in 96 career games with 90 of them being starts with the Chargers, Panthers, Vikings and Giants prior to his stint in KC.  Remmers has played both tackles spots over the course of his career.

With Remmers having just a few days to prep, the Jets will likely go with Conor McDermott at left tackle with Max Mithcell playing on the right side which isn’t great news for Zach Wilson.  In limited time with the Jets, McDermott has been abysmal when called upon.

According to the folks at Pro Football Focus, Remmers has consistently graded out as a better pass blocker than run blocker.  While the Jets are in dire need of both, it’s in pass pro where the Jets are looking to upgrade and help keep quarterback Zach Wilson upright when he returns from injury in the coming weeks.
