all good players at their time.  i don't think many of them, like plunkett and hill,  hold up to the modern game.  wasn't riggins a full back?

Well, Hill's in the Hall of Fame, so I'm going with that.  Riggins was a fullback who played for the Jets 5 years but 9 years with Washington.  Snell played longer, has more career rushing yards and was a key cog in the Super Bowl winning team.  Anderson played for the Jets for 10 years and was an amazing blocker for Curtis Martin and caught 305 career passes.  IMHO, he was the prototype fullback of his era.

Faneca played 2 years with the Jets, Dan Alexander gets no mention?

I would take Joe Fields over Nick Mangold.

And I would take Riggins over Anderson/Snell.

I know its your opinion and all.

Alexander (or even Sweeney) over Faneca is a legit argument, for sure.  Not sure about Fields over Mangold, though

Those early '80s Jets teams dominated on both sides of the ball. Powell is a great choice, but Alexander and Fields were a part of those units. Alexander was not on the same level as Fields however.

The Jets had some of the best center play for such a crappy organization, besides the 3 mentioned there is also Sweeney and Schmidt.

I believe Schmidt is from NY as well.

Schmidt came from Hofstra.

O'Brien vs. Pennington is a wash IMO.

Riggins over Anderson is an obvious change IMO, I'm not moved by the 10 years vs. 5 years argument, the two players aren't in the same league.

Not sure about Coles.  Or Barkum.  I think Key was better than both, but we're back to X years vs Y years as Jets again I suppose.

TE doesn't warrant a 2nd listing, that's how bad our TE history has been, lol.

Overall a good list.  Shame we have such a history that there really isn't more controversy as to "best"....

My version of that would have the #2 RB a tie between McNeil and Boozer.  At FB, Matt Snell would be #1, and Riggins would be #2.  Anderson can go kick rocks.  He wan't a great blocker, he would just get in the way of opposing defenders, and he fumbled more than a little.  I couldn't stand him.  Brad Baxter was a MUCH better blocker.  Brad Baxter made the most devastating block on a blitzer that I have ever seen.  He launched the blitzer about 5 yards in the air backwards.

At #2 WR, the #2 wouldn't be Coles.  It would be George Sauer, Jr. If not Sauer, it would be Jerricho Cotchery.   I'd replace Faneca with Dan Alexander, and I'd replace Mangold with Joe Fields.
