A Prolific O with a very Good QB and an Average Def ala Rams 3. A Good O run by a good Qb and a good Def ala Packers and a number of others 4.A Prolific O with a terrible D has never won a SB 5. Not to mention a QB who had never played a real game before. The Jets have a chance.

They created and came up with timely turnovers. They were 6th in the league in interceptions. This allowed them to be 6th in the league in points allowed. They only allowed over 20 points five times all season. Only once in the last 12 games. Factor in their superb special teams play and timely offense, they are pretty close to #3. Maybe you drank too much beer towards the end of 2000 and for the entire playoffs (not that I would blame you - you were on a magic carpet ride) - The Pats defense played STELLAR defense from game 10 and on that season. I'd say the pats D was pretty good in 01,they gave up a lot of yards but had the 6th best defense in terms of points allowed.IIRC they lead the league in turnovers. JoeWillie
Winning formula for winning any football game has always been the same .... 1) Run the ball on offense 2) Stop the run on defense 3) Turnovers - Get 'em on D, limit them on "O"
lawngnome o-line
A John Madden-ism on the formula for a winning a football game. Your team goes out there and scores more points than the other team puts up. When that happens, your team gets the W. Oh and it doesn't matter how an offense is, a good/great D can carry a bad offense in any situation (see CHI vs. ARI on Monday Night/Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl Run). LionelRichie
i thought the winning formula was "end all of your drives with a kick - punt, field goal, or extra point." that and great bar-b-q is the key to a championship at any level. KSJets
A Herm-ism on the formula for a winning a football game: Your team goes out there and scores more points than the other team puts up. When that happens, your team usually gets the W. Notice the slight change. You just know that's something Herm would say
