TomShane
When used correctly, Wayne can still be a tremendous weapon. Cotch can do a hell of alot of things besides play in the slot. I think he can line up outside and make alot of plays. IMO, he should be used in all three roles, and let Wayne just be the slot guy.
The Troll
Agreed. Does anyone honestly think that Cotchery couldn't have stepped in LAST year and put up numbers just as good, if not better than Wayne? The time has come for us to let go. Loyalty should not be a factor whenever we have someone on our roster that's younger and cheaper and can do the exact job that Chrebet does now. We don't need to spend millions of dollars now just for what someone did for us in the past. The future is now, and Wayne Chrebet is obviously not going to be part of the future. Jericho Cotchery is. faba
I was impressed with Cotchery coming out of N.C St-the guy definitely needs more playing time next year. I am still hoping Wayne will call it quits on his terms

Maxman
I think Wayne is going to get himself a nice 250k check tomorrow and be back on the team. Dinger likes tough receivers. Waybe is tough. Moss isn't that is why he wants to get rid of him.
124
It really s*cks to see guys like Chrebet go. Seeing Marvin Jones and Mo Lewis, guys who were always here and always played their hardest for this franchise being cut last year was heart breaking but it needed to be done. It will be a shame to see it, but most likely, Wayne will be released as well, it's Cotch's time as our #3.
Jetheelz
Like I mentioned earlier in another thread, Wayne is a class act and a dedicated player but he needs to consider his health first and foremost. It would be terrible if he had a bad injury or mishap (God forbid) that ruined the rest of his life. Football is a great sport we all love, but health and well being are of the upmost importance. And about Cotch...I also would like to see him get used more. He has great talent and skill. Granted, Phillip Rivers was a great QB down here at NC State, but who do you think caught all his passes? tommccabe
Through whatever happens, hopefully there is a staff position for Wayne in his future. There are things about football that can't be taught - you either have it or you don't - but there is a lot of insight that Wayne can provide to younger players. This isn't the same as signing a veteran at the end of his career as a stopgap solution and hoping he can mentor the younger players; Wayne has bled green and white and I think that has to be admired and rewarded, in some form.
