joewilly
Gimme a break ecurb, it's a freakin hat. Getting fined 100K for wearing a hat is utterly absurd and there's no excuse that can be made for that. This is why it's called the No Fun League, you're not even allowed to wear any kind of hat. F*cking ridiculous. you're missing the point mason. as said earlier,10,000 is nothing in the world of advertising. top athletes make more from endorsements than there sport salaries. a small fine would not deter athletes from breaking the rules the nfl has set out. It's a business & the fact that the nfl draws huge $$$ sponsors allows us the fans to watch games on other days of the week besides sunday. ECURB
Urclacher gave away a TON of $$$$$ in advertising dollars for free, not only does that hurt the business the NFL is trying to run but it also hurts and pisses off the sponsors that make it run. If you worked at Microsoft and you were told not to wear an Apple shirt by your boss during a press confrence, would you? No you would be fired... why do people forget that NFL players are merely employees of the NFL?
#27TheDominator
Ever watch a soccer game? Or almost any European sport? You want the players to look like Nascars, covered in decals? The guys bitching about this fine would be the first ones to complain about advertising ruining the integrity of the game. Did you guys actually like it when McNeely sold space on the bottom of his shoes or that dude fake tattooed goldenpalace.com on his back? Urlacher got fined for non-NFL sponsored advertising. $10k is nothing for a spot on the super-bowl pre-game and vitamin water will be happy to pay for the ad and even happier at all the extra free pub they are getting over it now. ShadowJet35
It's alright if you like to touch men's butts. No one's going to hold it against you. Then again, no one's gonna hold it for you (pun definitely intended). Bitonti and Gainzo are right. If the NFL only fined players $10,000 any joe schmo company would easily pay players double or triple that and get world wide product placement. The fine has to be big b/c it's not truly intended for the player but for the company. Hell I'm surprised it's only $100,000. Where did you get the man-butt tagging thing from? If your gonna make up insults at least be funny.

F*cking ridiculous. Cmon get real... its a JOB... If you worked for a company that supported Gatorade and they gave you a list of acceptable things to wear and promote, wouldnt you follow the rules? In any other job you would be fired, instead they fine him 100k which is chump change when it comes to superbowl advertising. The NFL needs to fine players like this in order to keep its paying sponsors happy, otherwise... no sponsors - no NFL
