Blackout
Santana Wang Chamberlain (short leash as starter) Pettite (IF he comes back) Kennedy/Hughes (one will be traded, one will probably start) and Tyler Clippard/Kei Igawa will factor in somewhere I'm sure. god I hope Pettite comes back. uart
I'm really not a big fan of this Santana trade. I don't think we need it.
anskyruben
I want it to happen. I also think it would encourage Pettite to come back. Wang / Johan and Andy would be an awesome 1-3 punch. If Joba works out as a starter, our pitching staff would piss down Bostons throats all year long.

mbn007
Best case scenario: Yankees land Santana, Andy comes back, Hughes and Joba are not traded. Santana Andy Wang Joba Hughes, vs. Beckett Schilling Dice-K Lester Buckholtz To be honest, that is fairly even, unless Schilling is injured, or Dice-K does not take a step up. Now consider if the cost for Santana is Hughes, and Andy does not come back: Santana Wang Joba Kennedy Mussina, vs. Beckett Schilling Dice-K Lester Buckholtz. I think the Bosox are favored in this match-up.
Matt39
Would you give up Joba to negate him from going to the Sox?
Barton
Would you give up Joba to negate him from going to the Sox? No. And I wouldnt trade Hughes either. If the sox arent giving up Bucholz, I am not giving up Hughes or Joba.

GimmeShelter
Would you give up Joba to negate him from going to the Sox? No. Joba appears to have the capability to be a dominant SP. If not we already know he can blow away hitters in the 8th and 9th innings. He's a untouchable IMO. Also if either team fails to land Santana they have the goods to go get Dan Haren cheaper.
