haggis
Sox moved Payton for reliever Chad Bradford. I don't know too much about Bradford and Payton is a loss as he provided awesome depth for our outfield. But his blow up at Francona in the dugout Wed sealed his fate. LionelRichie
But his blow up at Francona in the dugout Wed sealed his fate. one thing i love about the NFL and hate about baseball and NBA is the power of the unions. in baseball you cannot do anything w/players once they sign contracts, especially 10-5 guys like giambi, brown or sprewell and alan houston in the nba. they can basically do/say anything they want with little or no recourse - they are gauranteed their $. in the NFL you pull crap like that and you are cut, no questions. What was that all about anyway ? I heard that on Baseball Tonight that Payton has been designated for assignment.
shawn306
Bradford is a submariner. Could be tough. MLB.com though has him currently on the 60 day dl. That may have been since opening day though since I don't see any numbers on this year.
haggis
Payton doesn't want to be a backup, he wants to play more. "He had difficulty with the role and it was time for him to move on", is what Francona just said on the Dan Patrick show.
