Just when you thought you'd seen it all from Manny Ramirez... here we go again.

Ken Davidoff writes that Manny is feeling ignored on the free agent market, and will consider retiring if he doesn't receive a good offer soon.

I give this about a 0.3% chance of being a legitimate threat, and about a 99.7% chance that this is the old cliche of Manny being Manny at this point.

The Dodgers took a two-year, $45MM offer off the table when free agency began. The Yankees have interest but are unlikely to pursue if they land another quality starting pitcher. The Nationals have been thrown around, but they're wrapped up in Mark Teixeira right now. In the meantime, it's good to know Manny is still enjoying himself...

Ramirez told a friend that he spends most of his time working out, watching cartoons and playing video games.

Manny Ramirez is growing extremely upset about the lack of suitors for his services, so much so that he has told friends he would contemplate retirement if a suitable offer doesn't arrive soon, a person close to the situation told Newsday.

Now, the truth is that Ramirez is highly unlikely to retire. But his dissatisfaction speaks to the lack of buzz that his free agency has generated, despite (or maybe because of?) his outstanding two-month stay with the Dodgers, which followed a highly contentious split with the Red Sox.

The Dodgers offered Ramirez two years and $45 million and then pulled the offer once open free agency began. The Yankees have some interest in Ramirez but are unlikely to pursue him if they land another big starting pitcher - with A.J. Burnett the most likely target - in addition to CC Sabathia.

The Nationals have been viewed as a potential landing site for Ramirez, yet for now, Washington is trying to acquire highly popular free agent Mark Teixeira.

Ramirez told a friend that he spends most of his time working out, watching cartoons and playing video games. He'd much rather be speaking to his agent Scott Boras about high-stakes negotiations.

Don't think anyone is rushing to sign a guy who voided 3 years of a contract for which he was too be paid $15 million per. Boras is about to have another Arod situation. He misled Ramirez something terrible, telling him there would be a market for him. And while he's a great hitter, even the Sawx tired of his nonsense. They bent over backward to accomodate him and he still treated the Sawx like crap. Figure sometime in year 2 or 3 of his big money 5 year deal, Ramirez will be pulling the same dumb stuff.

Sorry but I have to disagree. I honestly think that 0.3 % chance of him retiring is WAY too high.
