Mike Tannenbam "not a closer"?

More or less, this is a response to the previous post...

First things first, all Jets fans wanted Nnamdi. We cant run from this fact. A Rex Ryan defense with one shutdown corner is dangerous. A Rex Ryan defense with two shutdown corners, both of whom can play the run, would have been downright scary.

Is 30mm a ton of money to pay a DB? Yes sir. Is 30mm a lot of money to pay a 30 year old db? yes sir....However, lets face facts. After 31 years, we are not concerned with "future salary cap considerations", or overpaying a middle aged man. We are concerned with winning a Super Bowl...once. Thats it, end of story.

So, did we care about the money? of course not...BUT, would we have cared about the money if it came at the expense of building the rest of a team that we hope can finally climb that elusive mountain?

Say what you will about the way the Nnamdi sweepstakes played out, but please don't attempt to convince me that Mike Tannenbaum has been anything short of the best General Manager this team has had in my lifetime. Over the course of his tenure he has consistently found a way to build winners, manage the cap, attract talent and put a viable contender on the field.

So he lost one today, so be it. Lets not forget that this team...the team Mike Tannenbaum built, and is about to re-sign, was a 3rd down stop away from handing the ball back to Mark Sanchez so that he could complete one of the greatest comebacks in playoff history, and take us to a place we haven't been since 1969.

That post was made by somebody who is a well documented retard. They let him go because the danger of lead paint wasn't so apparent when he was growing up, another thread in response was not needed.

yeah, all he did was sign 4 first round picks without a holdout and has the nickname, "trader mike". parcells loves the guy, his team is a winner and he drafted/signed/closed 5 guys in the NFL players top 100 list (voted on by the players byw, not fans)

if the owners voted, he would be in the top 10 GM's EASY

for all we know, he backed away from aso, we'll never know the whole story

can't wait to see what kind of spin Tanny puts on this, or if he just comes out and admits he's pissed.

This is the first time in a long while that things didn't fall right for him.

Aso really screwed them big time. I don't care if you thought it was a good idea to get him or not, he totally f&#ked up any other plans they could've had.

Alot of opportunities were missed during all of this.

Like?

FA is not over by a long short if he brings Cro and Braylon back we also most have the whole core of the team that was a D stop away from Mark getting the ball back and poss driving to a SB
