The Importance (again) in drafting well

Pennington and Coles did not suck at all.  Becht did suck (at least he could block)

Pennington never lived up to his draft status and had a noodle arm.  Smart QB, but takes more than intelligence.  Coles probably had the worst YAC in the history of the NFL for wr's.  And as far as Becht is concerned, you'd hope you get more out of a 1st round pick than a one dimensional blocking TE.  Kyle Brady and Becht must have been from the same mother.

Pennington was a lower than mid round QB pick career of 102 tds, to 64 ints, career 66% comp and 90 rating.  Injuries as much as anything did him in he was hardly a total bust for his career.

Coles was a friggin 3rd rounder that had 3 100 yard seasons, 6 70 plus catch seasons and 8 5 tds or greater seasons.  For a third rounder he was a fantastic player.

LOL Pennington was a 1st round pick by the Jets in 2000. Parcells even tried to trade him for Plaxico Buress later in the draft.  He knew he made a mistake.  And as far as his 90% rating, that's completely overblown.... the guy constantly dumped the ball off to backs because he knew he couldn't zip the ball into to his wr's.  Coles had a 'fair' career.  Like I said, I never saw a wr fall down after a catch more than Coles. It was laughable. Fantastic player for a 3rd round pick LOL  Steve Largent was traded to the Seahawks for an 8th round pick. Now that's a coup.

Again, I think Jets fans should come back to earth with the talent of this team.  Sure, our record was 4-1, but two games were basically won thanks to 10 turnovers.  We are not that good. We have some good young players, but Mac needs about two more solid drafts and to spend the next bit of money wisely on better depth rather than the need for starters to get this team rolling again.

And Low and behold, ANOTHER pick within the last 5 years has bit the dust.  How much better would this line be if we had chosen Chandler Jones?  You just cannot suck so bad at drafting and be anything more than mediocre.
