  1. I like your thoughts on this, but let's face it; this site couldn't get enough of dumping all over ZW, calling the season lost, and one fan even threw a water bottle at him. All of this happened on a Monday night game were ZW came back from a deficit and even gave us a lead and we eventually won against a very strong divisional rival. Can you image how bad it is going to get when the team loses? Once many on this site have spoken, there is no coming back. If he looks good, they will point out mistakes made last week or last year. When he makes mistakes like ALL QBs do, he is the worst QB to ever play the game. It is just the way it is. Sorry.
  2. I agree with this assessment, but I would like to point out that even great QBs make stupid mistakes. Luckily for us, the QB we were playing against made a bunch more. Since you rewatched the game, I will take your word for it, but I thought that 'dirt ball' was intentional as the WR wasn't open. I expect more stupid plays, but hopefully more good plays than bad ones. I hope that this includes the coaches. They seem to coach scared with ZW. It often makes it worse as it tends to put him in a lot of 3rd and longs, and prevents ZW from making the big strides. I think it also messes with his confidence. In fact, I believe the TD was a run call, but ZW changed it when he saw single coverage. I would have like to see them let him throw once (2nd down) and try to win the game outright. I will say, ZW doesn't look like the deer in the headlights like he did before; and he seems to scramble with a purpose to get free enough to throw the ball away. I am a little worried about his health as the rules seem to have changed where you can do a helmet to helmet hit on a QB when one of his knees are down.. but we always have Boyle.
  3. I agree - all of this lets stop the UPS driver because he is going to be better then ZW. We saw this last year; clearly winning a game with 4 INTs and a ST score is NOT sustainable. But, ZW did reasonably well (ok - not good but winning games) before we lost our 4th T (who was a 2G), Breece, and we were so thin at WR that Jeff Smith and Mims were playing (and neither is on the team anymore). The flip side is also true. No QBs (or very few) will be effective if the OL is a shaky as it was in the 1st Q/H. AR was 0/2; and we saw how a good QB can look like crap with a soft OL against a strong D this weekend with Burrow. No QB is perfect. No QB can win alone. And mediocre QBs can win when surrounded by the right team. Sanchez took us to 2 AFCC games (although that was the better part of his career) and Miami didn't win a SB with Marino. I also think people who think some guy who is crapping out of another team is automatically and improvement on ZW is just ridiculous. How many times has a QB fail and one team and then the next year become above average let alone serviceable. Geno took 8 years and appears to be coming down to earth.
  4. Not trying to pick on OP, but are we already bored with the season and calling ZW heaping pile of s**t; now we are determining creepiness of owners? And where is the required knowledge that BB is.a scumbag?
  5. Sure, but the real gamble was Rodgers - coming here to a cursed franchise. Maybe he figured going down in the first game with an achilles tear and a lost season. He figured once it happened it wouldn't happen again. Dude: I get it. We rolled the dice and lost. The real question was - given the state of the NFL, that the team in in win now mode with the D and the amazing draft last year. Do you a) draft another top QB and wait 3 years? do you pick up the garbage from another team and hope to fix it? The Jets did what Tampa did - took an old QB who was disgruntled with his current situation and gave him a fresh start. Sure, it worked out for Tampa with Brady and it didn't work out for us. Had Brady crashed and burned instead of winning it all - how many people would have questioned the Tampa move? JD took his shot; I am sure Woody was all in and the unthinkable happened. But had he not taken that shot, what would our play have been? Like with LT and RT, QBs are hard to find - rookies are a big dice roll and take years to evaluate. Trash is often trash. This was the best choice at the time - can't blame JD for that.
  6. Its all good; go to the newyorkjetjs.com website and they are all in on 2nd year QB starting against Dallas
  7. BS - Everyone was optimistic - I guess he should have traded for the best QB in the league under 30 - cause that happens all of the time.
  8. A D for an INT - they scored 16 points against a very good attacking D - which was more than a quarter of the teams did this weekend. It was also enough to go into OT. It was also infinitely more than the all powerful Giants managed at home. It was also the same or more than 8 games last season. It was all done with a QB that had no snaps with the starting O in the several weeks preceding the game. Half of this board fell all over the Giants - he is a real QB, he is a real Coach - the laid a big fat goose egg. But clearly ZW and Saleh are so bad that a single INT earns them a D for having a backup QB and a RB coming off injury (he was so great - had he been in better football shape that was a TD) playing in the first game of the season and dealing with a massive blow just got stronger as the game went on. Yep ZW's pass for a TB was pretty bad, but so was Manning's pass that ending up winning him a Super Bowl. A D good grief. Personally, I would have said a C or C+; considering the context a B-, but yeah, 1 INT = D. Got it.
  9. JD should sign a top 10 QB that just happens to be healthy, available, and cheap. While he is at it, he should do the same for LT and RT. It is so easy, not sure why he didn't think of it earlier.
  10. What - he did figure out the QB position - he traded for a QB; He could have drafted one; he could have signed one, he could have traded for a different one - HE can't pull in 2 high priced (cash and picks) QBs in case one goes down on the 4th play of the series.
  11. Really? Wow breaking news... I thought they would not bother bringing anyone in - why would the Jets need even a backup?
  12. They couldn't afford to move on from ZW because of his contract coupled with AR's contract. They could have eaten another spot for a backup, but that has its own issues. The will be able to bring in another QB now when AR goes onto IR, but who is going to be any good.
  13. Coming from a guy who completely mismanaged the team especially at the end of his tenure. Maybe we should do the opposite.
