Could Tebow Trade Be Possible

Tebow isn't going anywhere this year better get used to it. Apparently the Jets with their brilliant contract skills would only save about 800k by cutting Tebow so there isn't much incentive to cut him or to "give" him away. They would still have to pay the Broncos 2 million each year. They are probably asking too much of the other teams. couple that with his media baggage and his desire to start, to not be a backup, all of that makes for a big fat "No Deal".

Good to hear that at least one team talked about it. Slats would make you believe Tebow will be out of the NFL. This topic is so old, can't people just wait to see what develops? Who the hell really knows.

Can you elaborate here, please?  How many years are we paying the Broncos?  I thought we split the difference with them last year...But this makes it sound like its going to be an annual thing.

Found it.

The Jets will pay the Broncos $1.5 million in 2012 and $1.03 million in 2013, a league source told ESPN sports business analyst Andrew Brandt. The payments will be made in 1/17th weekly installments.

Tebow was given a $6.2 million salary advance before the 2011 season, the sources said. Tebow's contract required the Jets to repay the advanced salaries for the 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons, a total of about $5 million, according to sources.

The Broncos expected the Jets to pay those advances per terms of the contract. The Jets balked at doing so, allowing the Jaguars to re-enter the picture.

Sounds like we pay Denver $1M this year no matter what, on top of his salary which is $2.5M, and next year he's under contract for just under $900K.
He might be priced out of a trade, and be too expensive to keep on roster as a role player.

I read somewhere that we are at $12.5M under the cap, but would need $13M to trade Revis (because all of his bonuses would be accelerated).  Cutting Tebow saves $1M on the cap...So these two might be linked at the hip in terms of when either leaves the team.
