Woody wanted Rex to stay for 20 years.

Firing Tannebaum set the wheels in motion to eventually get rex out of here.  Woody overreacted to that 2012 season and we paid for it w/ the next few season.

A smart owner would have made the coaching change as well and given any gm free reign, there is a reason Idzik was down the list if GM choices and some of the 'interviewed poorly....aka told them rex sucked and they wanted a new coach'.

We would all be a couple of years further along the pain train of rebuilding if rex had been dismissed when Tanny was.  Many said at the time it was a huge error and that was borne out.

a smart owner would have kept the GM/HC combo intact.

A smart owner would keep a horrible head coach and a GM whom the coach pushes around at his will?  Nope.

yes, the same GM that built 2 title game teams and the same Coach that got us to 2 title games and got us closer to a SB than at any time since SB III.

when NYG had some down years did they fire the GM or coach? when Pitt has had some down years did they fire the GM or HC?  good organizations don't panic at the first sign of failure, they don't listen to their whiny fanbases but for some reason we always do.

Here is my long standing question to the Rex defenders.

Was it Rex or is it team personnel that is responsible for success and failures of this team over his tenure here?  Which is it?

1)  It is Rex; thus you can fairly give him credit for getting the team to two AFC title games and losing (where the defense was most responsible for the loss).  but now you face the issue that it is Rex who is responsible for the last 4 years of missing the playoffs and the dismal showing last year.

or

2) Is it team talent?  thus Rex gets no credit for the two AFC title games but is also forgiven for Idzik not getting him players.

The classic illogic of the Rexites is that he gets all the credit for the two AFC titles games when he was handed a team top 5 in running game, defense and oline.  And he gets excused for the failure because the team never got him any corners.

I'll take this a step further, the years that Rex gets fellated for getting to two AFC title games?  Those teams should not have been wild card teams, as they had very good opportunities to win the Division or get home field for at least one game.

In the end you chose, is it talent or is it coaching?

if you are saying it was more about the talent he inherited why would you want to get rid of that GM? and why didn't the HC before him win(who had HOF QB and no Brady)?

Rex doesn't get all the credit, show me where I said that?  the fact is though that he took the talent we had and made us better and he only had one bad season and that was last year when he was dead man walking.

2009 we had a chance at the division but if we couldn't win it w/ favre and no Brady how could the expectation be that we should have won it w/ a rookie QB and Brady playing 16 games?

In 2010 NE went 14-2, you expected us to go 14-2/15-1 and win the division?

which is better? winning div title and no playoff games like NE in '09 & '10 or earn WC and win 4 playoff games while playing for the right to represent the AFC in the SB 2 times?

It baffles me how people bash Rex or anyone connected w/ those teams.
