Seen several college up close HCs at every level this summer. Your average NCAA coach is a low key workaholic who knows every detail down to the 45 lb.  weights being properly stored. And while they may prefer one defense or offense over another, they run any damn style they need to win based on the talent on hand. Neither Herm nor Rex have that kind of attention to detail, and both shoehorn players into their systems. Further college football is all about offense. And neither Herm's happytalk nonsense nor Rex's buffoonery is gonna sell on any level, not with administrators nor fan bases. But fair to note Bobby Petrino and Lane Kiffin must be way better than we know at some aspect of their jobs to stay not only employed and sought.

I don't know. I'm not saying I disagree, but before any of that success in college football is dependent 100% on recruiting. The best prospects make the best programs and I always saw Herm as a guy that could seduce 17-18 year-olds and their parents easily.

Thanks Dad.

Oy vey with you. No it is not. Let's break down the sentence that you are referencing, since, as usual, the possibility that you might not be correctly interpreting something is just impossible to believe. That can't be happening, right?

"The same culture of fans that argued" = As in, there is a collective somewhere along the line that once argued something...

"...in favor of keeping coaching like Herm Edwards and Eric Mangini on board..." = As in, the collective in reference argued in favor of keeping coaches like Herm Edwards and Eric Mangini on board...

"...because it took Jeff Fisher a billion years to get decent at the job..." = As in, the collective in reference argued in favor of not firing those two coaches based on the idea that they needed more experience, because poorly thought out anecdotal evidence, which as referenced earlier in the paragraph, (and because they are in the same paragraph, that is how we know the points relate to each other because that's how writing works), need not necessarily be true to back up the poorly thought out argument to begin with. In this case, Jeff Fisher was that anecdote put forth by the previously referenced collective at the beginning of the sentence.

Pretty simple stuff here. There was a point in time when arguments were put forth on something to support something else. As in, once upon a time on the Internet, a common argument made in favor of keeping Herm Edwards and later on Eric Mangini was that Jeff Fisher went 5 playoff-less seasons by a franchise before making a Super Bowl. This was quite a common argument made on Jets boards from '04 to about '07, when Jeff Fisher hadn't been coaching for 21 seasons yet. Don't fire, experience matters, everyone just needs time, here's an anecdote on why that has to be true. That is what was argued, not what I am arguing.

Really not difficult stuff here. Again, you misread the post. Enough already.

Maybe he'd understand you better if you took Jeff Fisher's penis out of your mouth.

He'd have that appreciation......if we didn't have pics of him giving drunken middle fingers, his wife's snatch on foot fetish porn sites, reckless guarantees of superbowls, insults to other coaches in the league (Norv Turner), tattoos of his sh*tty underperforming QB, more reckless guarantees, cursing out fans.....

so that is why you hate him?  Rich Kotite was a great guy, I guess that means we should appreciate him?

No, I expect performance AND class. Rex had a decent start, sh*tty finish, and zero class along the way.

I prefer less trash talk and "class" too but it's all about winning.  some organizations pretend they are "classy" like the Giants but in reality they are big phonies but they have won.  I just want to win and rex got us closer to a Sb than at any point since SB III.

Better to remain quiet and thought classless by some than to repeatedly open your big fat mouth and remove all doubt.

Well this story will look real stupid IF Tyrod Taylor takes the next step, and Sammy Watkins becomes the special type of WR he was supposed to be, IF McCoy, and the O-line make for a beast running game that would be icing on the cake, that D won't really need to be that good.

A lot of IF'S I know, but not crazy to think they are possible.

Tyron isn't the next Dan Marino. He isn't the type of QB who can put up big points in shootouts.  Plus, his style is very suspect to injury.  He's athletic and serviceable but they'll need a top defense to really compete.

This guy right here folks......

this guy is the guy that appreciates winning and at least giving us a chance to get to SBs.  We may never see a SB but that doesn't mean I won't have a million great memories along the way.

Get that. But also seen coaches recruit high schoolers, my son and others, at different levels. And with the internet right there, websites that help recruits learn about schools an coaches, talking with other kids being recruited, the BS Ryan or Edwards might pull are not going to sell ll that well. Again, grant Petrino and Kiffin still have jobs. But those guys at least can point to some degree of success. What's the selling point to a kid with these 2? Herm jumping around like a sugared up 6-year old every week or by design having his kicker take a 2-yard longer FG attempt in  playoff game? The daily chaos of Rex Ryan, his indifference to offense , or the images of the Mrs. talking to strangers in a parking lot?

Oddly Edwards now bothers me a lot less because the whole idea of ESPN's NFL coverage is BS anyway-sack dances, end zone celebrations, the braindead musings of mental deficients like Ray Lewis and Screaming A. Smith. Don't watch any of it, have no interest in it. But in that crowd Edwards is the one eyed man in a kingdom of the blind.
