Jacksonville Jaguars: Jaguars linebacker Tommy Hendricks was charged with violating a restraining order taken out by his former wife.

Hendricks was arrested Wednesday on the misdemeanor charge in nearby Clay County after calling his ex-wife twice the day after the restraining order was issued in Broward County, where the couple previously lived. He was later released on a $1,500 bond.

Team spokesman Dan Edwards said Friday that Hendricks also is being treated for an unspecified medical condition.

Edwards added that the team doesn't plan any disciplinary action against Hendricks, who joined the Jaguars last March after spending four seasons with the Dolphins. He played primarily on special teams last season.

"We're hopeful he'll be able to work out these problems," Edwards said. "Our main concern right now is for his well-being."

Hamilton Tiger-Cats: At least one CFL team is interested in quarterback Doug Flutie.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats general manager Ron Lancaster told radio station CHML on Thursday that the team plans to contact Flutie's agent next week. Flutie was released last week by the NFL's San Diego Chargers.

The 42-year-old former Heisman Trophy winner had an eight-year stint in the CFL and won the league's outstanding player award an unprecedented six times. He played for Chicago, New England, Buffalo and San Diego in the NFL.

His agent said last week that Flutie wants to play for at least another season, but would explore all NFL options first.

There have been persistent reports that if Flutie returned to the CFL, his brother, Darren, might come out of retirement.

But Darren Flutie told the station he doesn't think a CFL return is likely, adding he has a good job in Boston and has re-signed to be a CBC broadcaster this season.

"I saw an article that actually mentioned that we may be coming to Hamilton and playing," he told the station. "It's the farthest thing from the truth at this point."

Philadelphia Eagles: Linebacker Keith Adams agreed to a one-year contract Friday with the Eagles following a season in which his career-high 54 tackles helped Philadelphia reach the Super Bowl.

Adams also is a key player on special teams whose value rose after he played well as a starter filling in for Mark Simoneau in the playoffs.

Adams, a seventh-round pick by Tennessee in 2001, played parts of two seasons with Dallas before being claimed off waivers by the Eagles in October 2002. The son of former New England Patriot Julius Adams, he has 93 tackles in 51 career games.

Atlanta Falcons: Continuing the reshaping of their safety corps, the Falcons on Friday signed unrestricted free agent Ronnie Heard, a five-year veteran who had played his entire NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers.

In 69 appearances, including 24 starts, Heard has 167 tackles, six interceptions 15 passes defensed and 3

I wouldn't read to much into Flutie heading up north. There was an article in the Boston Globe this morning about a group trying to put together an Arena Football franchise for Boston. Flutie's agent indicated that Doug would be very interested in that.

Patriots | Possible Interest in Flutie - from www.KFFL.com

Fri, 18 Mar 2005

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the New England Patriots could show an interest in free agent QB Doug Flutie (Chargers).

Please let this be another of Len's ridiculous rumors!!! I won't be able to stand it. First they release my boy Troy, and now there is talk they may pick-up Flutie to back-up Tom? This is sickening.
