Well, like I've told my Met friends when Cohen bought the team...money will not get you a WS title.  What it will do is make you competitive.  As a long time Yankees fan, if it came down to just money, we'd have several more titles.

Money helps but patience is even better , money helps Yankees make the playoffs every season but to win a WS , you need patience and a smart General Manger and owner.

Yankees have a Fine Minor League organization, Oppenheimer has greatly improved the drafting last few years, they just need to stop trying to develop 3 outcome hitters and go back to developing Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams type hitters, .300 hitters with occasional pop, when you must have a homer, O’Neil became that guy here also, Scott Broscious also, need to get away from the 3 outcome mentally.

Has anybody else noticed that Thairo Estrada is a better second baseman than Gleyber Torres and that Cashman gave Thairo away to Giants for cash considerations, a total dump so he could make room for Rougned Odor another .200 hitter.

The difference is that when the Yanks are "horrendous", they're 10 games over .500 (38-28).  Meanwhile, the Mets' payroll is the highest in the sport and we're 31-34.
