This article is a few years old, but well worth bringing back up, IMO. And still holds true to this day. :eek:

Since Ray Mansfield became the starting center for the 1964 season -- a span of 39 (make that 43 ) years -- only four men have regularly occupied the position: Mansfield, Mike Webster, Dermontti Dawson, Jeff Hartings.

Can you guys think of any other teams that have had this kind of luck/success at one particular position?

There is something to be said from the owners Rooney's on down on the stability of the Steelers franchise- part of the reason IMO that they have been able to play at a high level for many years

Every small market franchise in pro sports, should be required to intern at 1 Steeler Way or whatever the F there offices are located.

Belichick has not re-invented the wheel, he has his own tweaks, but not ove paying and having good depth has been a Steelers trademark long before the Patriots went dynastic.
