JETSFAN5180
Bucs release Boston; promote Jackson from practice squad September 9, 2006 TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Addressing a lack of depth on the offensive line for the season opener, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released receiver David Boston and promoted tackle Scott Jackson from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday. Boston is attempting a comeback after missing most of the past two seasons with the Miami Dolphins because of knee injuries. The one-time Pro Bowler signed with the Bucs in May, impressed coach Jon Gruden during offseason workouts and training camp and was one of seven receivers who survived final cuts a week ago. I dont know about the rest of you but the Jets need to go get this guy.He can be the bigtime reciever we need,or we can line him up at tight end.I always liked him and still feel has alot left in his tank. The Troll
He is a big-time receiver. Even though he hasn't played a down in two seasons. Even though he'll be looking for his 4th employer in 3 years. Sounds exactly like what we need.
JETSFAN5180
Why not give him a chance. What do we really have to lose.Ever think that maybe we can resurrect his career and find a diamond in the rough.

KSJets
Isn't that what Tampa just tried to do? Don't you know we should try to sign every player that gets cut from now until the end of the season?

Here's the problem with what you suggest as I see it. The season starts tomorrow. If this was 2-3 weeks ago I would give you the benefit of the doubt. You would have a lot of time to seewhat he has left. But NOW. No way do you start working out players that are iffy at this point in time and put them on the roster. Which current WR would you cut to put him on the team???? Tell him to come around next year at TC time.
Untouchable
Isn't that what Tampa just tried to do? I'd assume it's what Miami was trying to do as well. To be honest, I'm surprised that Boston is still in the league. He's been injured a lot and tested positive for steroids 2-3 years ago.

Tennessee_Jet
Wouldn't be surprised if Tampa re-signs him after week one so that his $$$ counts less against the cap.

I think what happens afterweek one if someone is signed the salary is not guaranteed if he is cut.
