LionelRichie
maybe, if you look real close. they now at least have some semblance of a running game. the run defense is worse, the pass defense is worse, and there is no pass rush whatsoever. where is the promised improvement? The Troll
I would say we have taken a step backwards since week 4.
shawn306
They are still breaking down defensively but the Run D did look a bit better today. Still not where it should be though. I still don't see Mangini's infatuation with Barlow. Why he was in there instead of Washington late was bothersome. I look at it this way. If you told me that the Jets would be 3-3 and were competive in two of their losses I would have signed up for that no hesitation. It is all about laying the foundation for future years this year. trend
The first couple of games, we may have been in better physical condition than the other team, but that advantage is definetly gone now. Our defense is just awful right now.........
Preston Howley III
I think we will have at least 5 new starters on defense next year. Maybe 6.

Gone: Kimo Rerun (God willing somebody is willing to take his contract) Miller (not from the team, just defense starter) Bryan Thomas Hobson
GreenBeans
Gone: Kimo Rerun (God willing somebody is willing to take his contract) Miller (not from the team, just defense starter) Bryan Thomas Hobson Hobson makes plays - he just needs to be more consistant. Preston Howley III
Hobson makes plays - he just needs to be more consistant. They all make plays- every once in a while. They all need to be more consistant. Thats the problem. I hate singling guys out, but some players are more expendable than others (due to contracts and salary cap implications). Man, I watch teams like Denver, Balitimore, even San Diego, and the defense comes to play. Sure they have a bad game every so often, but I watch these other teams and I say to myself "The Jets need to get one of those". One of those being a defense, of course. That's true, but for most every big play the Jets defense has nmade this year Hobson has been in the neighborhood. That being said, you're correct - everyone needs to be more consistent
124
On defense we need a need a Nose Tackle, OLB Pass Rushing Specialist & a Cornerback. On offense, unless Brad Smith is going to be the #3 receiver we need a receiver and we need a Running Back of course along with a run blocking RT. #27TheDominator
Gone: Kimo Rerun (God willing somebody is willing to take his contract) Miller (not from the team, just defense starter) Bryan Thomas Hobson We aren't replacing all those guys in one year. Miller doesn't start. Even with Barrett out Mangini has been starting Drew Coleman. Whether it's a ceremonial start or not, that tells you something. Kimo is the only one that doesn't belong in football next year. He seems like he's done. They will probably replace Thomas or Hobson, but more likely just get one true edge rushing specialist, but not necessarily a starter.
gojets1234
We need one mean SOB to play LG...some one to get the push so we can run the ball...the defense needs plenty... replacing Thomas, Miller, and Hobson is a good start!
LionelRichie
Gone: Kimo Rerun (God willing somebody is willing to take his contract) Miller (not from the team, just defense starter) Bryan Thomas Hobson you could probably add E Coleman to that list as well, i haven't seen him make a big play since his rookie year. this defense is just not getting it done - i don't know if it's the coaches, the system, the players, or what but right now it is pathetic.
