There's a reason why Eric Mangini stayed with Chad Pennington for the rest of the game Sunday in Foxborough - even after Kellen Clemens had gone to the locker room to have his injured rib checked and returned to the sideline physically able to return. Because Pennington gave Mangini and the Jets their best chance to win the game. From : PFT JETS MAKING A MISTAKE WITH CLEMENS? The thinking is that the Jets are using Clemens because he was selected by G.M. Mike Tannenbaum and coach Eric Mangini and, thus, is "their guy." If so, it's even more likely that the Jets will try to ship Pennington out of town after the 2008 season. There's also extremely unconfirmed talk that Clemens has a broken rib and, possibly, a punctured lung. But that, at this point, is pure rumor. Okay, so Clemens was fine and they went with Pennington because he gave us the best chance to win OR they are going to dump Pennington because Clemens is "their guy" and maybe Clemens has a broken rib and punctured lung. LionelRichie Posted December 19, 2007 Share Posted December 19, 2007 these are the same NY reporters that were calling for chadwick's benching after the buffalo debacle. i honestly don't know what game they watched on sunday against the pats to claim that chad "kept the jets close". the offense scored a whopping 3 points - would have been 10 if you count mccairens dropped pass. the ONLY reason to start chadwick the rest of the year is to boost his trade value and claim that 08 is an "open competition". if the jets don't want to trade chadwick they might as well release him today with jones and hicks. Give me something good dammit, like the Jets are trading Chad and Coles to K.C. Sutton getting fired (or demoted) is that really newsworthy? It should have happened earlier...Maybe, just maybe Mangini is give out conflicting comments to muddy the draft waters...If some people believe the JETS have interest in a QB (say Matt Ryan) it could drive up the price of a possible trade or mask the JETS true intentions (C. Long or Gholston). The bad news to me is its by design (the confusion) the JETS are missing an opportunity to develop Clemens...If its not on purpose, why seek a return to Chad (as much a class act as he is) and the return of the five yard check down on 3rd and 18.
