NFL Offseason Roadmap: New York Jets

NFL Offseason Roadmap is a series focused on the needs of NFL teams as they begin the offseason.

The offseason roadmap for the New York Jets isn't hard to follow. They need to get better, pretty much everywhere. Some areas have more urgent needs than others. A failure to upgrade them would doom the team to a 2008 as dark as 2007 while others require more modest improvements that will make the team a more potent one.

Isn't that number four? I mean they don't outright say GET A QB but they don't give Clemens a ringing endorsement and it's listed as an item of concern.

The article lists quarterback as #4 need and then goes to say it doesn't want a "change per se" and advocates making Clemens the starter next year and trading away Pennington or making him the back-up.

When you think about it, all we really NEED to do this offseason is get 2 solid OLmen and 1 or 2 good pass rushers.

Sure, upgrades at WR, CB, and DL would definately help, but if they're not adressed immediately and the OL and OLB's (Pass rushers) are, we'll still be compettitive next season.

I guess you're right. I kind of read the per se as maybe we need one, maybe we don't, but they sure seem to be advocating that we MUST give Clemens more time and they don't say anything about replacing Chad.

If by competitive you mean lose a bunch of close games and go 4-12 sure, but they NEED to do more than just replace the parts that are leaving (Hobson) and useless (Clarke) if they really want to compete.
