DaBrick Wall
First-Round Pick Gerrit Cole Opts for College Over Yankees By TYLER KEPNER When the Yankees drafted pitcher Gerrit Cole in the first round of the June draft, they believed that Cole would sign with them and forego a college scholarship. It turns out that Cole has changed his mind and will go to U.C.L.A. instead. According to a person involved in the negotiations, the Yankees have learned that Cole intends to go to college, no matter what they offer. The person was granted anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly before Friday
MagicBizkit87
I like how "The person" says it's not a money issue. With Boras, everything is a money issue.
Maxman
He throws 98, has a slider and a change up. And what exactly does he expect to learn in college?
anskyruben
He should call Drew Henson. Scott Boras is proof the mob no longer has much power. In the good ole days, he would've had an "unfortunate" accident.

Bugg
Typical Boras. This is all negotiation. He cans till sign with the Yanks until he actually attends his first day of class. Boras did the same thing with Brien Taylor, and he signed that very morning. Wonder how Boras is really doing, now that Sheffield and A-rod have fired him, he screwed over Kevin Millwood and Kenny Rogers, and teams are growingw aey of his nonsense. He has every right to do this kind of stuff, but it's not fooling anyone. And possibly he's costing clients money. Would this pitcher rather find himself next year in KC or DC drafting him? Sharrow
I guess he hopes to improve his value, get drafted higher, and get a bigger bonus. Maybe the Yanks will draft him again next year with their top 20 pick.
WallsOfJerricho
This would suck if he doesn't sign, however this would be several extra million + a 1st round compensation pick at their disposal in next year's draft.

Maybe the Yanks will draft him again next year with their top 20 pick. He's not going to improve his value. The Yankees were ready to give him a huge signing bonus that's usually reserved only for Top 10 picks.
