The team then signed wide receiver Adam Jennings, a 2006 sixth-round pick of Atlanta. Hixon underwent surgery 10 days ago after suffering a season-ending knee injury during the team's first practice on the new turf at the New Meadowlands Stadium last month. If Hixon clears waivers, however, the Giants are expected to place the popular wide receiver on injured reserve. The Giants have been searching for a returner to replace Hixon, who was the team's best punt and kickoff returner. If the Jets did it, Mike T is a genius. Otherwise, it's a classless move. At this rate we'll be no better than the Dolphins board by September. They're going to have a beastly WR corps this year. Why? Ramses Barden is a project. They were both on the roster last year, why wouldn't they both have been there this year? Hixon was one the top punt returners in the league last year. Barden certainly isn't replacing that. They are going to be scrambling for returners. I thought Hixon was going to step it up last year. He had a real nice season in '08 (did have some key drops) but he really went backwards in '09. Either way, the guy can fly and is a very good return man when healthy. Not if he's claimed off waivers. Might be the best case scenario for Hixon. The Giants have a lot of young WR. He might be better off going elsewhere.
