Leon Gets his Long Term Deal

$3+M per and you guys want to save money by dumping Tomlinson? No thanks. 27 is a great number, but 27 carries does not amount to "carrying the load". The guy averaged 3.7 ypc. Two carries went for 37 yards, the other 25 for 63. Ouch. I like Leon and wish him well, but it's pretty easy to move on when the guy is basically just a return man again.

It's only $3.5M guaranteed, which basically means he's going to play in year one of this contract ($2M SB and $1.5M salary) and then Seattle can easily cut him before his $1M roster bonus in 2012. This is (granted, allegedly) less guaranteed money he turned down from the Jets right before they shipped him off to Seattle.

Seattle has a net cap savings if they cut Leon after the 2011 season. Hope he stays healthy and gets more than that, but when you're a RB who turns 29 before the season begins you're not exactly in the driver's seat for a long-term deal unless Terry Bradway becomes a GM again.
