I wore what i wanted, didn't dress up like all the "original" yet identical looking punks to satisfy the social gatekeepers of the "scene" and I eventually outgrew them. Punk rock was better when it was a "movement," it was about moving forward towards a more accepting society... when it became a "scene" it stopped moving. It became like anything else in society that gives people the ability to create rules of exclusion to empower themselves, like religion, or veganism, or straight edge... all about social tiers and power.
