New York Jets right guard Willie Colon was signed by the team in the offseason to a one-year deal, and he has already asserted himself as a leader in the Jets locker room after spending just one year with the team. He’s also been solid this season, and I’m sure the Jets have appreciated his experience and excellent pass protection.

Colon has done a great job of keeping Geno Smith’s pocket clean, even though fellow guard Vladimir Ducasse and Brian Winter have struggled mightily in that regard this season (hopefully Winters’s solid game against the Miami Dolphins is a sign of things to come, but he’s been horrific as a rookie overall).

Re-signing Colon is likely a priority for the Jets, and that task just got easier.According to a source close to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York, he tore a bicep in the team’s impressive 20-7 victory over the Dolphins on Sunday.

It’s a crushing blow to Colon and his chances of snagging a solid contract in the offseason, and I feel horrible for him. He put in some solid work this season and put himself in a position to earn some good money, but his chances of getting a quality contract have been severely undercut by this torn biceps injury. It’s a rather significant injury for the 30-year-old Hofstra product, and it will be interesting to see how it cools down his market.

But Colon’s injury is actually a gain for the Jets organization, because they will have less competition out there in an effort to re-sign the solid veteran at right guard. I think he’ll most likely stay in New York, and he should be ready for the start of training camp.

Does it say when Sunday he got it? I really hope it wasn't from lifting Rex onto his shoulders in the post game celebration

by the last drive, ducasse was in the game. Im not sure when it happened exactly but he wasn't out there for the final drive.
