Ka'Deem "the Dream" Carey

Two time All American RB from Arizona is officially declared. Doesn't get anywhere near the pub he should get but this would be my ideal second round pick (maybe even 3rd with the way RBs are viewed now). Prototypical size and speed, carried Arizona's offense under Rodriguez (almost 800 carries in 3 years), and even caught 77 passes in his college career. Prooooobably the most well rounded back in what looks like a decent class for the position, and likely the highest rated one after rushing for a shade under 2000 yards in 2013.

All this talk of WRs, but I think upping the young talent behind Ivory and knocking Powell to third RB is something they have to do this offseason. Goodson would be more interesting if he wasn't an a$$hole, but since he is he should be gone.

Typing on phones with the flu....yaaaaaaay

How is the Williams kid from BC?

I watched more than half of BC's games this year. His style is sorta similar to Ivory's. A big part was Addazzio's scheme. Check out Bernard Pierce his last year at Temple. Similar runner. Tough old school between the tackles type.

Jets need a guy more like Carey IMO.

Actually, where I am from, I get to watch alot of the Syracuse games and they have a back coming out this year. I think his last name is Smith, But the kid is a stud and could be a good middle round pick.

The other guy from an Arizona school, Marion Grice, is probably going to go a lot later but kind of an interesting fit. Decent speed, returns kicks, looks like he's got outstanding hands out of the backfield.

Carey I would love if he had an extra gear, but I don't think he does. Never really see him pull away from guys in the open field. That said, he's a really tough tackle. Would be nice to have a guy who can create yardage like him.

Lots of options in this RB class. I think pass catching should the top priority. A guy like De'Anthony Thomas who can double as an explosive return guy would be pretty interesting in the screen game and as an explosive option.

I would love getting a guy like De'Anthony Thomas, but I think a bunch of people do.  If he runs well, I do not think he is going to last very long.  If he doesn't do you really want him?  If they can't get a burner like Thomas they can probably get one that doesn't run too well.  As long as the cone times are good I think they can add great value with a team like this.  My choice last year was Ace Sanders.  He went just out of the top 100 last year.

Thomas will be interesting. Internet draft guys don't seem to be huge fans, there's a decent contingent that thinks he's going to slip. Not the best attitude (talking about how they didn't care if they made the Rose Bowl, were going to hang 40 on Stanford which might have been ok if they came close, etc).

And the big issue is he's really small and doesn't really have a position. Not coming off a great season, got dinged up. He's not thick like Sproles and really slight for a RB, not really a natural WR by any stretch. Just an offensive weapon you have to manufacture touches for and a return specialist. Which is great for a team like the Jets that really needs some explosiveness and a return specialist, but it's a luxury pick and a big question mark for a lot of teams. I could see him slipping to day 3 even if he runs well (which I imagine he would) because of those concerns, and a that point I think he'd be well worth it for the Jets. And maybe I'm completely off base, but I think it's too early to discount that as a possibility.

There's other similar guys who look like they'll be available day 3 too. Dri Archer is really similar to Thomas - build, good pass catcher for a back, again banged up and had a disppointing year. But he's a small school guy and not quite as well known. So there are other options along the same lines. That dude can fly too.

Love me some Dri Archer, he likes running between the tackles, has the elusiveness, vision, and speed to be a threat to take it to the house every time he touches it, has great ball skills in the recieving game, attacks the ball, and catches with his hands, can also be a instant upgrade at KR, and PR. The only reason he won't go higher than the 3rd is small school, and injury history. If he gets a chance to get 10-15 touches somewhere, and stays healthy I would think he ends up being the steal of the draft, and non QB best offensive rookie. Again the concern with him is can he stay healthy for 16 weeks taking an NFL beating.

Him, his teammates, and coaching staff all believe he will run close to Chris Johnson's 40 time at the combine, and/or pro day, if he does I wonder how far he ends up rising up teams draft boards, everyone saw what a J Charlea type of back can do for an offense when used properly!

He has the ability to plug right into that role and then move into the starting slot.

I can't say either way as I've only seen his stats with Carey, but there impressive, and most scouts love him.

I have seen, and watched a lot of Bishop Sankey, and believe he can be a L McCoy type of RB, what's your thoughts on him, and how he compares to Carey? I have been stating that this offense needs that type of RB in a MM system, and Goodson was supposed to get a shot at that role, but right now with the expectations this team will have you can't come out of Free Agency, and the Draft without a similar type of RB as a replacement, or at the very least as a backup plan IMO, I see this almost equal in importance as WR, the Chiefs running the same offense showed you can put up plenty of points without many weapons if your RB is a stud duel threat player.

I certainly wouldn't discount the possibility of Thomas, but if he runs well I think somebody will fall in love and he will move up a bit.  I have seen the Dri Archer stuff and I agree this team needs that kind of player.  FWIW, Idzik seems to place a pretty high value on "athleticism"
