joewilly12
There was a play on Sunday where Torrey Smith was uncovered before and after the snap. Kaep never saw him. As bad as Geno has been, I don't think he would ever do that. No thanks to him and his bloated contract. Could the Jets make a trade for Kaepernick? Logistically, it's not out of the question. That massive six-year, $114 million contract he signed last year is team-friendly because there is no fully guaranteed money beyond what's owed to him for the remainder of this season, $5.5 million. He has six years, $77.2 million left on the deal, through 2020, but it's deceiving.Right now, Kaepernick's 2016 salary ($11.9 million) is guaranteed for injury only -- which, of course, would present a risk for the Jets if he were to suffer a severe injury this year. It could put them on the hook for that $11.9 million. The salary becomes fully guaranteed next April 1.

shawn306
That team never should have ran off Harbaugh. The whole program has gone south. Bingo !!!!! It is going take the Niners years to recover from this.
rex-n-effect
The answer to our QB woes is not to move from one trash heap to the next. Kaepernick and Geno are two guys with a lot of problems. Neither is really an upgrade over the other over the long term. Kaepernick has the benefit of having been surrounded his first couple years with a great cast and a coach that has the magic touch with QBs. Take all that away and he plays like junk. He is to the 9ers what Sanchez was for us. If you really want to revive that situation then you might as well phone Chip Kelly and see if Sanchez is available for a cheaper price. At least Sanchez and Mangold are already bros. Kaepernick maybe has the highest ceiling of the three players but we also don't know how far down his floor drops. We've seen the worst Geno brings but it makes no sense to bring in Kaepernick on a big paycheck when he may perform as poorly as Geno.
Matt39
Kaepernick makes Geno look coachable. No thanks.
drdetroit
I wouldn't consider Geno Smith a better option than any QB in the league. well you're wrong
drdetroit
I don't understand how anyone still takes Kaepernick seriously. And he has a bad contract too.

Dealing for Kaepernick would be a game-changer, a season-changer and, potentially, a franchise-changer.

Jet Nut
Just because Kaep is likely better than Geno doesn't mean you make that trade and take on his contract at the same time. The 49ers don't even have a developmental QB behind Kaep and they're benching him anyways. Not a good sign. Nothing is guaranteed after this season. The contract is not an issue

drdetroit
Not true, the contract has no guarantees after this seasons money Kaepernick is horrible. At this point he may be worse than Geno and by a significant amount.

Jet Nut
Kaepernick is horrible. At this point he may be worse than Geno and by a significant amount. Didn't say a word about how he plays, was just saying his contract is team friendly. Not sure if his career can be saved. But he was 5 yards from a SB ring and was one hell of a dynamic QB a couple of years ago.
