Catapano Media Interview Today on Jets Website

This guy seems pretty confident.   Hopefully he is as good on the field Sunday as he is in this 10 minute interview on NYJets.com.  Catapano talks about his position switch to full time OLB, overcoming last years injury and about the young Jets linebackers. Says that the Jets OLBs are hungry and that makes them dangerous.  Talks about how it's a dream to be playing as a Jet and about his Curtis Martin jersey at home in his closet (Catapano was a running back at Chaminade in high school on long Island and switched to playing defense in college).   And talks about playing on 9/11 in front of friends etc....long but interesting interview.    He's our starting OLB Sunday and moving forward as well according to NY.com beat writer Conor Hughes.  Hughes said it was confirmed by Coach Bowles Catapano and Jenkins will both share starting responsibilities even when Jenkins is healthy.

Catapano is a pass rushing specialist and not much more. Asking him to be more than that and do it for an entire game is asking for trouble. Get well soon Jenkins. OLB is thin as it is and the Jets need healthy players there.

I hope Catapano looks good tomorrow like he did in preseason because i'll be quite honest Jenkins got pushed around a bit when you watch the tape.  Mauldin got pushed around a bit as well.  But was preseason, curious to see how they look tomorrow.  But yes we need them all healthy for sure.

Also how do we know what he can or can't do until we see it?  Obviously the coaches have faith in the kid.   One thing you HAVE to admire about this guy is his attitude.  Attitude is infectious...it elevates the mind of everyone around it.  Especially in a position made up of young guys with limited experience.  The guy definitely sounds like a leader.  I am rooting for him.

What I recall about him was that he was well liked by Andy Reid who had good things to say about him when the Chiefs cut him. And something to the effect that he was glad the Jets picked him up. He must have showed something in training camp to make the team because it wasn't easy. He could be a good role player for us.

Crap, I forgot he's coming off a lisfranc.  Lost weight, playing a new position, had a decent preseason it seems, still I can't help but feel the jury is def out.

For sure it is....jury is still out on this whole group.  This positional group maybe more than any other has to prove itself.   But if these guys and the right side of that O Line can step up we got ourselves a contender.   Lets see

Tomorrow should tell a lot...should be a great gauge as Cinci is clearly one of the top teams in the AFC...so if we can somehow squeak out a W tomorrow then maybe.  Lets see how the running games goes against a quality defense.  That will be very telling
