Assuming we reach the point of roster cut downs, which players would you be interested in?  Keep in mind that several of these players might only be available via trade.

The following teams (the ones where I found players that could be cap casualty candidates) are up against the cap, per overthecap.com:

  • Patriots (under $2M cap space)
  • Buccaneers ($4.9M)
  • Chiefs ($6.2M)
  • Raiders ($8.3M)
  • Saints ($8.8M)
  • Cardinals ($9.0M)
  • Bears ($10.8M)
  • Falcons ($11M)
  • Panthers ($11.1M)
  • Cowboys ($11.2M)
  • Vikings ($12.3M)

I utilized current depth charts to guess which players might be on the chopping block.  The players were either backups OR veterans whose starting spot is in question due to a high draft pick sitting behind them.

The players in question would save their teams the following amount of cap space:

  • CB Patrick Peterson ($12.6M)
  • G Gabe Jackson ($9.6M)
  • OT Riley Reiff ($11M)
  • C Alex Mack ($8M)
  • EDGE Tyrone Crawford ($8M)
  • WR Mohamed Sanu ($6.5M)
  • LB Demario Davis ($7.6M)
  • DT Akiem Hicks ($10.3M)
  • WR Zay Jones ($1.4M)
  • WR Seth Roberts ($3.2M)
  • RB Mike Davis ($3M)
  • G/C Nick Easton ($5.3M)
  • DT/DE William Gholston ($4.8M)
  • FS Ricardo Allen ($5.3M)
  • FS Daniel Sorensen ($3.8M)

Demario Davis. That way it ensures that he would be donning that green cap when canton calls

Kind of amazing that we let him go.  Twice.

We should have never let him go the first time around.  1st Team All-Pro for New Orleans last year...incredible.  He put up superior stats to Jamal Adams at 30 years old:

  • 87 Solo Tackles
  • 4.0 Sacks
  • 12 Pass Deflections
  • 1 INT
  • 11 TFLs
  • Haha 1

Gabe Jackson there is a zero chance he isn’t on the Raiders 53 man roster.( his salary fully guarantee for 2020) . A healthy Gabe Jackson,  and the Raiders have a top five offense line.    ( Gruden knows this why he kept Jackson).
Raiders have so much depth on the interior that they can easily afford Losing multiple players , and not missing  a beat.( R Incognito starts to slip they insert D Good into lineup, and they don’t lose anything.. Good should have been starting for clearly injured G Jackson last year.

Zay Jones  it isn’t so clear cut that he makes the finally 53 man roster. He will be competing with a lot of Wr for those 2 last  spots.  First 4 are locks.  1Henry Ruggs 2. Tyrell Williams 3. H Renfrow ( slot) 4. b Edwards ( Carr loves this type of Wr) . 5. N Agholor - slot  Wr/punt returner ( always a chance L Bowden , and Ruggs take return duties. 6. Depends on what they want speed ( poor mans H Ruggs-  Rico Gafford) .  Zay Jones- has been working out with Carr all offseason.

Uh yeah, that's why I listed him.

Thanks for the explanation of my thought process.  lol.
