Roster Update 4.6.2023

Recommended Posts

Always a solid job @Sarge4Tide.

A few things to keep an eye on

1. You have JFM at Edge, yet we still haven’t signed a starting DT to replace Rankins and have only been looking at rotational guys.  A couple young Edges who are good vs the run w/ upside as edge rushers deserve more playing time …. does this all mean that JFM slides inside full time?

2. You have Clark as a Safety, yet he doesn’t seem to fit as a complimentary safety to Whitehead in the base 2 deep zone the Jets often used.  Could he be the box replacement for Kwon as a sub specialist who is good at covering TEs and filling running lanes?  The Jets have tried to convert safeties before ..

3. If no additions at QB, I can’t imagine a worse pair of backups.  Have we not learned?

4. Laken Tomlinson’s starting job should not be as safe as it appears.  Could the Jets draft an OT or Center (while adding a FA) who has versatility to replace Tomlinson as starting LG for 1 year.  A transition until 2024

Should we be concerned about WR and TE development since we couldn't figure out how to make use of Elijah Moore, Denzel Mims gets worse by the year and we could find no role for 6'5" Lawrence Cager who in 6 games with the Giants had 13 receptions for 118, 1 TD and 8 first downs?

It's an absolutely ridiculous rule IMHO.

You’ll see teams cut a good guy that has a chance to catch on with another team early, but then you’ll see players who are getting cut that are borderline cut 1 second before the deadline lol. It’s going to dribble out all day and then a deluge.

it’s also a reaction to teams resting starters in preseason games and obviously injuries

Thank you for this, @Sarge4Tide.  I appreciate the legwork!

I still don't feel like we have enough at WR, btw, but from the "draft experts" online, it sounds like JD isn't taking a WR.

While the draft has sort of been on the backburner this year due to AR, I'm really starting to look forward to it now that it's getting close.  I definitely expect us to trade at least 1 of our 2nd rounders.  And I could see a trade down at #13 if the player JD wants (I'm assuming OT) doesn't fall to us.

On the other hand 1) Garrett Wilson, 2) this is probably why MLF got let go, and 3) Garrett Wilson.

Nice write up. Thanks.

OL: If MB 5th being picked up then JD has flexibility in trading down and gaining additional Day 2 picks for the following. We need to get into the 3rd Rd. Lots of holes can be filled with 2-#2 & 2-#3 picks.

OC: Hoping Jones follows his coach to Jets and we draft one day 2

DT: No need drafting Jalen Carter at #13 if Q is in the plans for an extension. So many stud DT in this draft available Day 2

WR: CD is redundant and injury prone. I’d love to see an EM replacement in this draft.  Scott, Dell etc. Get him ready for Hardman departure in FA
